Candidate Declaration - I confirm that the attached portfolio is all my own work* and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself
Yesterday was an incredibly productive day, I couldn't have been happier with the outcome of it. From start to finish I was able to make sure I did enough. I was used for rehearsals, made massive progress with marketing and felt confident in my place in the show.
With rehearsals, we went over the entirety of Act two, using casts one and two, however as Alan couldn't be present for cast two I was able to stand in, thus getting in more rehearsal time than I would've gotten had he been in. This meant that I was able to run the entirety of act two with two different Jo's and feel how my chemistry was with both. I was also able to get feedback and blocked every scene. On reflection on my feedback, I will certainly take it in, as I completely agree with it. My feedback was I need to increase my volume, which means I need to project more, and in scene 11 where I meet Jo's family, I need to be less smiley and more anxious because Laurie's there and in Bhaer's head, they're together, engaged. I also need to show that when Jo is saying that she has no time for German, that Bhaer thinks she's talking about him, instead of learning the language, I need to show more sadness and hurt through his actions and facial expressions. I'm hoping to run the scene with my partner over the half term, as even though I'm leaving to see her, It is not a holiday, I still have to work, I still need to work. I still need to do my part and do enough, I need to pull my weight, regardless what other people do. I made sure during the rehearsals that I was conscious of my blocking as It's very difficult to efficiently block myself to the audience whilst I also need to show that I'm talking to a group of people next to me. Another struggle Is which door I walk through, but I'm working on that and I'm sure It'll get stuck in my head on the 5th of June, the day before I go on.
Aside from the rehearsals, I've also done a lot for production and my role as being part of marketing. I worked with Morgan to record and interview several roles, we collectively interviewed the 4 main sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy, we also interviewed the main 3 males, Laurie, Prof Bhaer and Mr Brooke. I interviewed The Jo's, The Amy's, The Mr Brookes and a Beth. Asking questions about their character's in a multitude of ways, with camera equipment. After I finished interviewing, I copied the interviews I did and pasted them onto Morgans USB stick so that when I give him it, he can edit together and then we can post it, alongside a cast reveal over the half term.

This morning a small handful of us came in early to help our peer, Alan with appearing on the news. Personally, I didn't care that we'd be on the news, I just wanted to be there to support my friend. Thus, we get the set ready, and decide to do Scene 11, however because of the lack of people who initially said they'd come and didn't, we had to cast ourselves as multiple roles. I stood in for Mr Brooke, we did the scene a few times in front of the camera, until they said that had everything they wanted from us, and now just wanted to talk to Kelly, our tutor, and Alan.
So we took this as our opportunity to rehearse in the other dance studio, We rehearsed a few scenes we could all collectively be in, which wasn't many unfortunately, and we did need to cast ourselves as multiple people again, but we all did a scene that we needed. For instance, we went over Beth's death scene for Jess and scene 11 for me, as it's all we really could do.
Overall these past two days have gone very well productively, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I'll make sure to work on the feedback I was given, and make sure my lines are locked in fully to the point I don't need a prompt. I'm very excited to do this show.
