(LW) - Little Women

This is the start of the end of my college life, of mark's thrilling journey through acting. It's been a long journey, hard at points, downright stressful. But I'll be damned if I don't admit the fact that It's been a load of fun, an experience I'll never forget and a place I'll cherish in my heart.

Today we got scripts to Little Women, not to keep just yet as Kelly's adding more scenes in, however the auditions for the final show are on Tuesday next week, a week exactly today. With a very different audition process, we're picking an extract from the LW script to do either as a monologue or a duologue, and we're also devising our own monologue that can be at any point in the play, along with chemistry tests if our audition is successful. The show dates have been confirmed and advertised as the 7th, 8th and 9th of June, I'm both excited yet scared? I haven't wanted a character this much since I'd have said Remote/Yolo. I've wanted every character I've had since don't get me wrong, but the desire I had for Blister was the strongest I've had, alongside Jack.

I've chosen to audition for Laurie/Theodore Laurence, the male lead in the play. I genuinely think it'll challenge me as I'm still not used to being a lead in a play, I have to keep up an American accent, and whilst I am half American, my roots are from Utah, not from Massachusetts  Boston. We've been told we have to do a Boston accent however, that for the audition we're allowed to just do the standard American accent which thankfully I can do. I've also decided to do a Duologue, page 35/36, It's the extract when Laurie proposes to Jo and It shows how deeply in love he is. I plan to do some research on the time and the character alongside his relationships so that I can fully understand the play.

I also plan to make a devised piece on his dream and ambition of music, how he wants and dreams of being in front of an orchestra, playing music yet his Grandfather refuses to let him and instead makes him join the family business, I think it'll show that I further understand Laurie by proving I know his ambitions and his goals, as there's more to his life and background and personality than just the March girls.
