We started the day by rehearsing any monologues we had for uni for an hour, I did my screen test monologue for The Arden school of theatre as it's this Monday coming up and I need to make sure I'm off script for it by then. After which it was LAMDA's workshop, which while it was certainly entertaining to a degree, I can't say I'd have missed much if I'd have spent the time productively on something like YOLO or my monologue. Even so though, this workshop was a lot better than last year's, it still didn't sway and persuade me to auditon there but it has for sure boosted my opinion of the uni a bit. We had gone through breathing exercises, vocal and body strategies and such, and it did feel very spiritual, personally I wasn't one for it and whilst I tried and did what we were told I didn't understand how everyone was feeling relaxed or relieved by doing it, even so we moved on. After which, In 225, we had learnt how to do a transatlantic accent, probably the first new thing we've been taught since Tom taught us stage combat. I learnt how to pronounce words and the history of the accent and movies it's used in. And finally to end the day we focused on YOLO where we did Scene 7 and more run throughs of scene 8, we were supposed to get the theatre but unfortunately, MT had, without care or thought, used it as their audition space despite us booking the theatre for our rehearsal time, and just to top it off they were using the dance studio as an audition space too, or so I was told. It's difficult to try and dance/flail about with loud music and your eyes being closed in such an enclosed space, yet we're actors so I will do what I'm told and I'll try my hardest to do so.
A few days ago, I had my first filming day of Unbroken, it went well! We managed to do the entire scene with only a few takes, we made some minor mistakes here and there but overall it went really well, I tried to portray as a head teacher, so I imagined a scenario in my head, thought back to times I've been brought into an office, and thought how they held themselves, so I put it all together into one character, Mr Mawson. I believe it went pretty well, I tried to divide my attention between my three Peers but I know I struggled and kept turning my head, I can only hope it's not as obvious and awkward as I feel it was.
