01/11/22 Ghost Light Tours, The final show

Since my Audition, Many things have happened.

I didn't get the part I wanted however, I got something that, at least to me, was on the same level, simply for the responsibility. During the audition, I went for Jack, the bartender. However, after finding out I didn't get the role, I wasn't upset, I was rather thankful I found out who got it, as me and a friend were competing for it, I was happy he got it. That's when my Tutor told me she couldn't see me as it was due to my overwhelming presence, and how if I was the bartender, I might overshadow Alfred and Charles. So instead, She gave me the role of Vincent Price. A famous Actor from the 1930s-1990s. He dabbled mainly in horror. In the tour, he'd star in the movie, The House of Wax. This is when the excitement hit me. She told me that the Tour has been more or less of a cakewalk up till now, with some easy scares here and there, but now It's up to me to make the finale. To make it actually scary. And thus, handed me the responsibility of The House of Wax Finale.

I spent several hours working with the people who were my "Wax Dolls" teaching and showing them how to move, how to stand, how to properly hold themselves, how to position themselves, trying to give them the discipline to maintain a freeze-frame to thoroughly scare the audience. And I would give my monologue, my speech. I'd honestly say this has been one of my favourite roles to play since Blister in Remote. I believe I by far, enjoy playing an Antagonist more than I do a protagonist. During the final shows, I had to rearrange everyone, because the auditorium was different from our College classroom. But It made me incredibly happy to take charge of a team and lead it, with them listening to me. Sure there were times when they wouldn't and I'd get frustrated, but when we were all focused, it went smoothly and I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed leading a team when it all went well. I kept 2/3 in the rows of seats in front of the audience, and as I did my speech I'd walk down the aisle to get closer to the dolls, so that to amp up the creepiness and disturbing factor of the character I could make it realistic, I'd move their arms into different places, or touch their faces and caress their masks. Alongside this I also kept 3 behind the audience, so that if any of the members decided to look away from the dolls and I, say if there were too scared, they'd come face to face with the other dolls behind them, watching them as they crawled over the seats and closer to the audience. Even if they didn't turn around, seeing them in their peripheral vision would frighten them enough.

I placed them like this so that when they're moving the audience feels like they're being closed in on, no one likes moving mannequins, especially when it gives a weeping angel vibe, which is what I was going for.

I also made sure that when the finale was over and Jack escorted them out, The mannequins behind them were scattered enough so that the three behind could stare at them as the audience left the room, one would be at the back of their queue, in the freeze-frame and two others would be towards the exit, so that the audience still feel like they're in danger. As though the mannequins could unfreeze and scare them at any second. I set it out so meticulously and spent so much time with it, I wanted it to be absolutely perfect. After all, It's the first time I've done an Immersive Instillation Piece, so I had to have it match my standards, at least with my scene. and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

My dad came to the final show, and I didn't expect him to enjoy it yet he really did. He didn't know I was in charge of the House of Wax part and he even said it was perfect. Telling me word for word what I wanted the audience to feel, was exactly what he felt. I could absolutely not be happier. My scene got a few screens, some uncomfortable laughs and screams, and I even made a child cry. Which normally wouldn't be a good thing. Considering It's my first time doing a horror piece, I could absolutely not be any happier with how it turned out. I would absolutely love to do it again. What an amazing and fun Experience.
