14/10/2022 Ghost light tours Audition
After further reading the script I had my eyes set on the role of the bartender. I loved the way they talked, the walk they fantasized over an actress, and the humanity in them, despite the fact the characters a literal dead man. I chose to portray him with a hint of Mystery, but overall friendliness. Someone you'd feel comfortable talking to and asking for help in a dire situation.
I chose to audition with the extract at the start of the script, It's the largest single piece of dialogue in the whole script, but it gives an excellent start to who the Bartender is as a person, and who the tour guides are, the tour guides are the Lewis brothers who ran the globe back in 1913+.
We also get a glimpse at his love life, as he fantasizes over famous silent movie actress Ivy Close, he goes on a small tangent about how beautiful he finds her, as he talks about them meeting one day and falling in love, it is clear that bartender is head over heels for Ivy Close. I tried to show that through his body language and the way he looks while talking about her. It's easier for me to demonstrate that through acting as I imagine my partner while using the dialogue, to try and make it as believable as possible.
However, I've gotten a second audition for the Bartender, where I need to act it in front of an audience, to see how It'll look in front of other people, which will happen on Monday coming up, I'm going to continue learning the script over the weekend just in case I get the role, and if I don't, well, there's always next time!
