Charlie and the chocolate factory Task 4 Evaluation
I believe I have grown as an actor, I believe my acting talent has gotten better, and I still have a lot more to learn. In the Witches performance, I was extremely nervous despite only being on stage for one scene, but I believe it was the calm before the storm that put me off guard and nervous, due to my scene being at the end. Especially when nearly all my learns were repeats of the same thing. Except I learned how to do choreography properly by planning and rehearsing, with fewer lines. Yet in charlie, I had much more lines, was on for half of the show and I was much less nervous. I don't think I'll ever get over stage fright. But I do think that It has encumbered me less Since being taught by my teachers and being surrounded by friends and kind people. I think I am thriving at this college, and I hope that shows in my acting. I have learnt more about Stanislavsky, acting techniques, better ways to learn lines and how to address the person behind the Camera, as a Camera Operator instead of a Cameraman, as one of my teachers would object if you called them a Cameraman, this course is the highlight of the last 4 months, I have enjoyed every second of it, the experience I've learnt, seen what It's like to act and be behind a camera on a filming set. I don't think I'd change anything about the past term, I have no regrets, there are some mistakes I've made along the way, and sometimes I have felt like my anxiety got the better of me, but I am reminded that I am surrounded by friends and that with each day I go in, is another day I learn something new, with the people I like being around by my side. I also think that if I didn't have the help of my teachers, I wouldn't have been the way I am in my acting, as I have learned so many different things that have really helped me. Experiencing what It's like on stage and behind the camera has helped me see both sides of the coin, and helped me decide what I want to do with my career. On one side, in theatre, you get a rush like no other, and once It's done, a high that doesn't go down for a night. Whereas on the other, your mistakes will not be seen in the final product, and the anxiety of stage fright somewhat disappears. Despite this, I still got nervous whilst filming my self-tape, I think I'll never escape my fear of auditions, even if they're behind a camera in my living room.
The following are statements from people I have either filmed with or been in a show with, such as charlie and the chocolate factory, the witches and man from uncle copycat.
Daniel, who played Augustus in the charlie and the chocolate factory show:
"Mark played his character in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory perfectly, his Mrs Gloop was absolute comedy gold, non-stop laughing and it's what he deserved. On top of all, he had such a convincing German accent. He went out of his comfort zone and absolutely smashed it. Set high bars for the next show that I'm sure he will surpass."
Kalem, who played Willy Wonka in charlie and the chocolate factory show:
"Wow, where do I even begin! It's been so much fun working alongside Mark onstage. His performance as Mrs Gloop was SUCH a spectacular sight! His comedic timing, his body language, everything he did was just so great, and he managed to do something that has NEVER happened in my entire acting career: made me corpse onstage.
I've never had to turn away from the audience to laugh at another cast member, but with Marks performance as Mrs Gloop, I simply couldn't hold it in! We worked together in a specific scene to bring a VERY effective gag to the show, which involved Mark chasing me with a handbag, and the audience reacted to this extremely well, and with him chasing me as an angry German woman, I will admit that I was fearing for my life!
It's very rare to see an actor open to everything thrown at him, and yet Mark was 100% willing to do anything in order to add to his performance! At the end of it all, it's been such a pleasure working alongside him, and I can't wait to begin working on the next show with him! (Hopefully he won't murder me with a handbag this time)
-Kalem"
Jamie, who played Napoleon Solo in Man from U.N.C.L.E Copycat Scene:
"Mark is a very talented young actor who always pulls of unique performances. For example in the shirt scene that we did, from the movie U.N.C.L.E, he absolutely nailed the Russian accent and u swear ops desires, the obstacle in the way of his character's desire, mark knew what he was going to do to get to his characters desire and he showed that with his performance. Mark can switch on anything, you give him a challenge and he will make it look easy, the lad is filled with energy, knowledge and charisma and you see that in his performances, this will help him for the rest of his career, nailed on."
Tom Kerr, who was the Director in Alice and the Cold case:
"Mark is an absolute pleasure to work with, he is always determined to put in a 100% effort with everything he does. He is recently been working on my feature film and he has shown great dedication throughout the process even when it was challenging."
