16/11/21 Willy Wonka Auditions

Today was the first audition for Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It was like the calm before the storm waiting for my time to come on the casting call sheet. I shouldn't have been nervous but I was, despite being surrounded by my friends outside the room and being told positive things. I could still feel the cold hand of stage fright clenching my stomach. My friend went in, minutes passed and he came back out, he said they thought his audition was really good and they said "What an audition". I honestly believe he's got the role, he's a brilliant actor after-all. Then it was my turn to go in, and my stomach hurt more. I'm used to having stage fright but It never ceases to make me anxious. Then I step into the room, told to start when I'm ready, and as I wanted to get rid of the anxiety but also wanted to do it at last, I began the lines. I tried my best with what I could remember, I did mess up one of the lines but I played it off and continues despite me recognising my mistake. I then started the second monologue, which I believe I did much better on, But I tried my best in both monologues, I personally don't believe I got the part because of the pure amount of better actors who went for the role, so I'm curious as to who I'll be cast as. I'll find out soon though, I must say I am excited as to who they'll put me as, after all, curiosity killed the cat.
